Ingredients


For Stuffed Onion Pakoda
4 small onions

To Be Mixed Into A Potato Stuffing
1 1/2 cups boiled and mashed potatoes
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
2 tsp ginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
1/2 tsp green chilli paste
1/4 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp chaat masala
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste

To Be Mixed Into A Batter (using 3/4 Cup Of Water)
1 cup besan (bengal gram flour)
2 tbsp rice flour (chawal ka atta)
1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
1 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
2 pinches baking soda
salt to taste
2 tbsp hot oil

Method

For stuffed onion pakoda

  1. To make {span class="bold1"}stuffed onion pakoda{/span}, peel and cut the onions into halves and separate each layer of onion halve. Keep aside.
  2. Divide the potato stuffing into 16 equal portions.
  3. Stuff a portion in one onion halve, cover it with another onion halve and press slightly to seal the stuffing.
  4. Heat the oil in a deep non-stcik pan, dip the potato stuffed onions into the besan batter one by one and deep fry in hot oil on a slow flame till they turn golden brown and crisp.
  5. Serve the {span class="bold1"}stuffed onion pakoda{/span} immediately.
